Fish were distributed into four groups in well prepared fiberglass tanks and were fed on basal diet without additive (control), 1%, 2%, and 3% FOS for 8 weeks. Results showed that the final weight, weight gain and the specific growth rate were significantly increased with 2% dietary FOS with lower feed conversion ratio compared to the control group. Digestive enzymes activities showed no significant effect (P > 0.05) of dietary FOS on intestinal amylase and lipase activities. While, protease activity was significantly higher (P < 0.05) especially in group fed 2 % (22.7 ± 2.28 U) dietary FOS compared to the other treated and control groups. Histological examination of the mid-intestine revealed significant increase of villi length and number of mucous cells with increased dietary FOS levels (P < 0.05) especially in groups fed 2 and 3% FOS. In conclusion, FOS supplemented diets could improve intestinal enzymes activities, absorptive ability, and histological feature of intestinal villi and consequently increase the feed utilization and growth performance of Nile tilapia fingerlings.}, keywords = {Growth performance,histology,Intestinal enzymes activities,Nile Tilapia fingerlings,prebiotics}, url = {https://eja.journals.ekb.eg/article_46730.html}, eprint = {https://eja.journals.ekb.eg/article_46730_dc2f007b8a9ff367aff0789423effc93.pdf} } @article { author = {Mohamed, Saber Mostafa Mohamed and Ahmed, Mahmoud and El-Karyony, l and Dawood, Tharwat}, title = {An economic study of the elements of Fishing Lake High Dam(Nasser)}, journal = {Egyptian Journal for Aquaculture}, volume = {5}, number = {3}, pages = {17-31}, year = {2015}, publisher = {Blue Resources for Aquaculture, Environment and Society Development}, issn = {2090-7877}, eissn = {2636-3984}, doi = {10.21608/eja.2019.46731}, abstract = {Although of the availability of natural, economical and professional resources of Lake Nasr fisheries the use of it in an economic form is not in a viable capacity, where the main research problems reformed in deterioration in fishing nowadays, because of run out of fisheries and stocking density as the result of the illegal fishing and lake of fry and fingerlings substitutions. Therefore, disequilibrium between fishing capacity volume and lake capacity. So the study aimed to through a light on the lake status and rational significances of fishing species and marketing, economical, social characteristics for fishermen. Also declared the result as there are a hesitations among 1995and 2013 as ranged 53.8 thousand tons per year 1998 and 9.9% which reached 545.6 thousand tons in the same year. However it reached the lowest 16.8 thousand tons (2.3%) 72.4 thousand tons but in 2013 reached 18.7 thousand tons 1.3% in the same year which proofed that there challenges against development and progress in Lake Nasr.}, keywords = {}, url = {https://eja.journals.ekb.eg/article_46731.html}, eprint = {https://eja.journals.ekb.eg/article_46731_ad727a1d365adce0fb2d7cdd3609b93b.pdf} }
